U.S. Embassy/Peace Corps 1st Seasonal Softball Tournament

Hey All!

I know I've been terrible about posting lately, but I've actually been busy. Yay for Summer! One of my projects, as many of you know, is Softball. Again, those of you who have contributed to the Softball donation fund have really been a huge part in making this happen.

This past Sunday the U.S. Embassy in Baku hosted a Softball Tournament at Baku's International School (TISA). It was a huge hit! Four Peace Corps run teams participated from four regions; Xachmaz/Quba, Lankeran, Ismayilli, and Bilasevar.

Team Xachmaz/Quba!

The day kicked off with:
Game 1 - Xachmaz/Quba vs. Ismayilli. Ismayilli were the winners in a super close game.

Game 2 - Lankeran vs. Bilasevar - Bilasevar were the winners.
Game 3 - Xachmaz/Quba vs. Lankeran - Xachmaz/Quba were the winners!!

Game 4 - Ismayilli vs Bilasevar - Bilasevar were the winners.

Game 5 - Xachmaz/Quba vs Bilasevar - Bilasevar were the winners in a super exciting and well played game!

And Game 6 - Ismayilli vs Lankeran - Ismayilli were the winners.
The kids had a blast and Bilasevar came out the day hampions. Congrats to Bilasevar!

We then had a mixed game of TISA kids and participants from all 4 Azerbaijani teams as well as an Expat/U.S. Embassy/Peace Corps Volunteer game.

Me with my Quba boys, Vusal (left) and Imran (right)!

Also a BIG thank you to the U.S. Embassy & Tisa for putting on such an awesome event. The Tisa kids made signs for all the teams and provided us with lunch (wheat bread sandwiches! I forgot wheat bread existed ha, a taste of America for sure).

The Azerbaijani boys (it's a coed league, but getting girls involved can be challenging) had a great time and a day in Baku which is a really big deal!
